Objective: To establish the relationship between the mental load and the type of job in workers of a mining center and an oil center. Materials and methods: Retrospective study. The level of mental load was evaluated using the NASA-TLX test with job characteristics during 2020 to 2021. A multivariate analysis was performed to estimate the Prevalence Ratios (PR) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Results: 163 workers were included, with 146 men (89.6%), average age of 40.1 years. In the multivariate study, a significant relationship was found between the type of job [RP: 2.1 (1.3-3.4)], the mining sector [RP: 2.6 (1.4-5.0)] and the oil industry [RP: 1.2 (0.5-2.9)] with a high level of mental load. Conclusions: There is an association between the mental load and the type of job in mining and oil workers. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
