Resumen
External support is critical to the success of ICT adoption in SMEs, as these businesses are lagging due to a general lack of IT literacy, skills, and training resources. The initial aim of this study is to identify those factors that influence the adoption of ICT in SMEs in emerging countries. According to the review of the literature, there is no specific model that integrates all the fac-tors that influence the adoption of ICT in SMEs, so a model that integrates the most relevant factors that influence the adoption of ICT is proposed. This study proposes a model to identify the factors that influence the adoption of ICT in SMEs in emerging countries. The proposed model was validated through case studies, for which the 10 steps outlined in the Methodological Guide were applied. The findings obtained made it possible to highlight that the factors related to caring for the environment, and the experience and knowledge of ICT of employees exert a strong positive influence on employers when adopting ICT, and resistance to change exerts a strong negative influence. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
