Objective: to determine the relationship between the educational quality and the efficiency in research of students in a private university in order to determine the possible challenges of virtual education in a private university that can serve as inputs to evaluate said challenges in other universities of the Peru. Methods and materials: Applied type research, correlational level, non-experimental design. The population was made up of 320 students and the sample by 175 students. Two Likert scale questionnaires were used for the Educational Quality and Research Efficiency variables. Results: A high relationship was identified with Spearman's Rho statistics between the Educational Quality and Research Efficiency as well as between the Educational Quality variable and the Research Efficiency variable dimensions (academic retention, optimal use of learning resources and time to acquire skill and knowledge in research) with correlation values of 0.802, 0.787, 0.666 and 0.755, respectively; and all with a p value of 0.000. Conclusion: There is a direct and significant relationship between the Educational Quality and Research Efficiency in the students of a private university, which poses challenges in the implementation of virtual education linked to the digital divide, teacher-student communication, appropriate place for student, among other. © 2024 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
