dc.description.abstractThe main objective of quality assurance systems is to guarantee suitable training processes, with the achievement of the graduation profile as a central element. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine the characteristics of a competency-based curricular planning model. as a means to establish the coherence and quality of the training proposals. The paradigm was interpretive and the research design was grounded theory, seeking to carry out a critical reading of the facts through the use of techniques such as the analysis of official documents, the interview with five experts in university curriculum, the focus group with five university teachers with experience in curricular planning with a competency-based approach and data triangulation. The study made it possible to demonstrate the importance of having a competency-based curricular planning model, which provides the theoretical and practical guidelines necessary for adequate curricular treatment. The main conclusion was that a Curriculum Planning Model by Competencies makes it possible to identify the inconsistencies of the graduation profile, the study plan and the evaluation system, verifying that these key elements of the curriculum still face limitations in their development. © 2023 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
