Journalistic Treatment of the News Broadcast on Willax Television's Fanpage About the 2021 General Elections, Peru

Abstract

This research answers the question: What is the journalistic treatment of the news broadcast on Willax Television's fanpage about the 2021 General Elections? It is qualitative in nature, the method that is developed is content analysis, the technique that is applied is observation, and the instrument is the observation sheet. For the collection of information, articles from the Scopus database, books, and theses from different universities were used. We worked with 27 observation sheets, which resulted in 100% of the news analyzed being informative notes. Likewise, the news broadcast on the Willax Television fanpage presents only three elements of the news 100% (topicality, proximity, and transcendence), and of the total news only 52% presents emotion. In addition, the principles of the news are universality and neutrality. Regarding the total number of files, it was found that 100% comply only with the principle of universality. Likewise, journalistic language involves hypertextuality, multimediality, interactivity, and updating. Of the total material analyzed, it was determined that 100% of the files comply with hypertextuality, interactivity, and updating. In conclusion, the most used genre on Willax Television's fanpage is the news and the news complies with the elements of topicality, proximity, transcendence, and emotion, with the principle of universality, and with journalistic languages: hypertextuality, interactivity, and updating. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
